Welcome to the December Tots100 index of the UK's top 100 parent blogs and bloggers!
Right off the bat, I'm just going to say: This is the BEST INDEX EVER.
It's a bold claim, I know. But after all the shenanigans of the last few months, this month I've gone through the metrics with a fine toothcomb. Everything has been checked, evaluated and compared so we can be confident the metrics we're using are as fair and representative as I think they can be.
We have ended up with something that is balanced between valuing longevity and volume of content on the one hand with how popular and talked about a blog is right now across all online platforms - not just the blog itself.
And I know I say it every month, but while there may be other indexes based in whole or in part on the subjective views of the companies that create them, this is the only independent index based entirely on publicly available data, that's updated every single month (although judging by how long certain companies spend copying huge tracts of information from this blog, I'd expect a copycat to come floating out of the woodwork any time now).
Before we get started, then, some points I'd like to make about this month's index:
1. It's an index. Not the formula for eternal life. Therefore I reserve the right to (gently) tease anyone who takes it too seriously.
2. The metrics score you based on three basic things: links; comments; readership. As Meatloaf says, two out of three ain't bad. But it won't get you in the top 10 of the Tots100. No, he didn't say the last bit.
3. If you want to boost your score, my top tips are: put a link to your Twitter account on your blog; register your blog with Technorati; make it as easy as possible for people to comment on, link to and Tweet your content.
Simple.
Of course, don't forget to get your blog badges by clicking on the link here.
If you’re not listed this month and you haven’t yet submitted your blog to Who’s the Mummy, please leave a comment on THIS post with your blog name and blog URL, and I’ll add you to the mix next time.
Right, let’s go!

JUST MISSED OUT THIS MONTH: Nunhead Ramblings and Angels and Urchins were both within 5 points of the top 100. Well done!
