It's fun to have fun but you have to know how
As some of you may know, my company organises the MAD Blog Awards for UK parent blogs. It's an increasingly big and complicated business - this year we received more than 60,000 nominations in three weeks for thousands of UK parent blogs, writing about everything from food to technology, politics and parenting. I bumped into a friend at the supermarket earlier this week, who I hadn't seen for a year or two. Like most of my ideas, BlogCamp came about from some idle whinging on Facebook. In this case, I was moaning about why all the good blogging events seem to be a) expensive and b) in London. And wouldn’t it be a good idea if someone made one that was cheap and not in London? I’ve been blogging for a while now. I’ve seen spats and snarking aplenty but I have also found that parent bloggers are usually incredibly supportive of one another and tend to go out of their way to help each other out. That’s a lovely thing to be a part of, but I am wondering whether we need a bit more disagreement in our lives.
