Gleeking Out and CyberMummy

You can’t have failed to notice that this weekend saw the second ever CyberMummy conference for UK Mummy bloggers, taking place in London. I’ve heard the word ‘overwhelmed’ a lot from other bloggers talking about the event and I can see why – 450 bloggers, sponsors, PRs and speakers in one space is a lot to take in, and there seemed to be a lot going on. If you didn’t go along and you’re wondering whether to invest in a ticket for 2012, I’d definitely say it’s worth … [Read more...]

Oh, you have a life? Cancel it.

As a school Mummy, I am an abject failure. This Monday was Harvest Festival. I remembered this just as I was holding open the school's front door for another School Mummy and her three kids. Each child was holding a cardboard box filled with Arborio rice and jars of organic pasta sauces. As I mentally kicked myself, I noticed the three kids’ boxes were decorated. With lovely sparkly wrapping paper and glitter and everything. That’s just offensive, frankly. Also? It meant I couldn’t … [Read more...]

Me: Mummy Blogger and Media Maven*

I’ve been asked to write a column over at the new family and lifestyle website Super Savvy Me – presumably because everything about me screams both ‘super’ and ‘savvy’. As I may have mentioned on Twitter, if I look a bit tipsy in the  photo byline, it’s just a bit of a smudge on the lens. … [Read more...]

Seriously, SEO only gets more complicated than that if you’re posting the same sort of content as loads of other people, or … [Read more...]

Things I could have bought instead of school uniform

This Thursday, Flea will join the reception class at her school. Being an organised, professional sort of Mummy, obviously I chose today (Tuesday) to go and buy her school uniform. Fortunately, Flea attended the pre-school already, so she can re-use some kit from last year, but she needed some new kit, namely: One blazer Two pinafores (she has two but I need five since I can't deal with the pressure of mid-week laundry) Five jumpers (see above) Two ties (how dirty does a tie get? … [Read more...]
