Christmas is awesome. And so is Playmobil.

Put them together and it’s a veritable festive smorgasbord of awesomeness, as can be seen in the Playmobil Advent Calendar range.

What makes Playmobil advent calendars particularly brilliant is that, over 24 days, they let your child build up a festive scene that can be taken apart at the end of the festive period, and packed away for the next year. They are very well made, too – our own advent calendar will be in its seventh year of service this Christmas, which is why I’m so happy to have one of these items to give away on my blog.

We love setting out our advent calendar each year. There’s a big cardboard scene that hangs on the wall, and 24 boxes sit in hinges spaces on the backing. Then there’s a cardboard backing and base that can be popped on a shelf or table, for the scene to be created on.

Inside each box there’s a small part of the puzzle, perhaps a branch on the tree and a bird, or a snowy bench. The closer you get to Christmas, the more exciting the pieces become – it’s always a big day in our family when it’s finally time to add SANTA to the scene. There are a couple of spare boxes in case of accidents, and you can buy replacement cards too.

It’s just a lovely part of our Christmas tradition and now you can have one, too!
