What’s on your Christmas wish list?

santa

So, Flea sent off her letter to Father Christmas this morning.

This year, the requests are (fortunately) more simple than the year she asked for a monkey, and to become a dog. I think Santa should be able to magic up a top hat and a scooter without too many worries.

But what about my wish list?

For me, Christmas isn’t just for kids. I’m a HUGE, HUGE believer that adults deserve presents, too. I love buying gifts for friends and family – it’s a chance to let someone know you appreciate them, or that you think about them when you see stupid things in stores that speak to one of their hobbies, or passions. Who doesn’t want to hear that?

That said, it can be hard to buy for other adults, sometimes. If in doubt, my watch word for gifting at Christmas is indulgence – so many people are so bad at indulging themselves (especially once kids are on the scene) so I quite often buy hampers (F&M are the best and they’re not all expensive) or I’ll put together my own hamper with a selection of smaller gifts with a piece of jewellery or a bottle of something special. And you really, really can’t go wrong with some specialist coffee and artisan chocolates.

In the interests of giving my family and friends some inspiration for their gift dilemmas – and of course giving you some ideas of what to buy the sophisticated 20-something *cough* woman in your life, here are some of the things I’m hoping to receive this Christmas.

Wishlist

  1. LEGO Death Star. Because… well, who wouldn’t want one? £274.99 from the Lego Store
  2. Grenson Lucy platform brogues in black. I just bought my first Grenson shoes and they’re gorgeous. Now I want more. Because I’m demanding like that. £215, from Grenson
  3. A Chemex coffee maker. This is simply the best way to make fresh coffee. It’s quick and simple – and a design classic to boot. $36.95 from William Sonoma
  4. A Paloma Picasso double knot braid bracelet from Tiffany & Co. Because it’s simple, but beautiful.  $325 from Tiffany & Co.
  5. This Visit Hogsmeade poster. Sneaky confession – I might have bought this already. Self-gifting is the future. Although this is for Flea, obviously. £9.82, from Etsy
  6. Christmas requires cake. And if you can’t bake, you need to fake it. Thanks to Ruth for introducing me to these amazing brownies. £16, Gower Cottage Brownies
  7. Elf Cotton Headed Ninnymuggins poster from Etsy. If I need to explain why, well, you’re reading the wrong blog. £5.88 from Etsy
  8. I can’t help loving this Broadway Star Floor/Wall lamp. It’s a bit quirky but warm. Love. £139 from Made.com

Fancy Trying a Special Coffee this Christmas?

What’s on your wish-list this Christmas?

If you’re a coffee lover, then you might want to consider investing in some Reindeer Rocket coffee from the guys over at Big Cup Little Cup.

They’re not kidding when they say ‘rocket’ – this stuff scores a 9 on the strength scale, making it ideal for an espresso with a punch. The Nespresso-compatible pods are simplicity itself to use, and they’re made from Arabica beans from Southern Brazil and Central America, meaning they have a really rich taste with hints of dark chocolate and chestnut. I tried these out when some friends came to dinner and they got the thumbs up all round.

Big Cup Little Cup are offering 15% off a packet of Reindeer Rocket pods for new customers – simply enter SQUIDGY15 at the checkout to get 15% off your first order.

  1. Oh my Sally, those brogues! Like really grown up DMs that I wore as a student. I so want those 🙂 This year Natty wants to be Elsa and Mia wants super powers and a real mermaid tail. I am in big trouble/ being tested.

  2. I’m going to be spending a lot of Christmas day on my own. I’ve had years of people not buying me presents and not being bothered. This year I will be buying my own! I’m making sure my stocking is filled and I will be looking for a new camera lens online 🙂
