When Flea was two, all she wanted for Christmas was a bicycle.
For weeks, all I heard was, “Mummy, tell Father Christmas that I would like a bicycle of my very own for Christmas.”
Santa was feeling particularly obliging that year and duly delivered a gorgeous wooden balance bike – when Flea woke up on December 25th, she couldn’t wait to see whether Father Christmas had been, and if he’d brought her a bike – she tore through her presents, throwing paper all over the place.
Finally, there it was. Her very own bicycle. Just not the one she’d imagined.
“I wanted a flower one.”
“Well, we could put flower stickers on this one, would you like to do that?”
“No.”
So, that could have gone better.
#NothingBeatsaBike
As Flea’s got older, the desire for a new bike at Christmas hasn’t got any less.
And a bike makes a PERFECT Christmas present. At a time of year when it’s all-too-tempting to huddle on the sofa playing video games and watching TV, a bike is the best reason ever to get out to the park, ride in the woods, and race down hills.
If you’re considering a bike this Christmas, I wholeheartedly recommend Halfords – we’ve always bought bikes there, and love their service and support. This Christmas, you can buy a bike online and have it stored for free until Christmas – you can also reserve in-store with a deposit of just £10.
We love that Halfords can build your bike for you, and we’ve always found them happy to help with things like fitting baskets, bells and lights.
There’s a gorgeous fresh range of new kids’ bikes in store, and I’m really excited to be sharing a fab competition where you can win some brilliant kids’ bikes in the run up to Christmas – and as an added bonus, I’ve got one more kids’ bike to give away on the site!
